Tell Me Why
Tell me why your source of love is without compassion
Tell me why your plans for unity declare limited rations
Tell me why you kill all others but yourself
Tell me why you preach openness but practice stealth
Tell me why your extremists are allowed to rule
Tell me why murder is a religious tool
Tell me why you cannot leave this land to me
Please tell me why peace cannot be.

The Nomad
Beneath these toes
The sand journeys
The water erases
The wind frees.
The faces of the world stare
The whispers of their dialect surround
The sun warms
The mountains rise
The animals chase
This life.
This love.
This world.
Engulf me.

The House of Lost and Found
When the sun shines brightly against dewy skin,
I know you are there.
But when darkness comes and optimism grows thin,
Your shadow looks like fear.
It’s easy to get used to that shadow by my side.
It’s easy to give up on purpose and try to hide.
But what would be the point of that?
Everything you’ve given me
Is a sacred gift of life.
From the calm of the blue water
To the mountains and the strife.
It’s all part of an unforeseen Picasso
Whose paints you only hold.
It’s my thank you to you
To shine brave and bold.
For when all sounds grow deaf
And stars are unfound,
You reside in my soul
The greatest House of Lost and Found.
